Things To Do If A Debt Collector Is Contacting You
* DON’T THROW AWAY ANYTHING. Keep every letter, envelope or other document sent to you. A document that you may think is not important can sometimes make a big difference in protecting YOUR RIGHTS!
* WRITE NOTES after every telephone call you have with a debt collector. Write the date, time, and who you spoke with. You should also write down as much of the conversation as you can remember. Be specific.
* SAVE EVERY VOICE MAIL MESSAGE FROM A DEBT COLLECTOR.
REMEMBER - A DEBT COLLECTOR MUST TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT, DIGNITY, FAIRNESS, AND TRUTH WHEN THEY TRY AND COLLECT A DEBT FROM YOU
